Attempts to get mining operations set up to mine the blood granite. Begins outfitting R&D lab with suggestions from other researchers. Begins mentoring shardless? APRIL - Plants herb garden for locals and Rin. Begins research studies in lab. Mining operations commence. Possibly breeding clegs? Maglor brings tack for clegs and new wardrobe for Edgar? "None," Wan said back, offering a polite bow. "I'm Wan. Were the roses supposed to give me trouble?"

"The fact that they didn't speaks well of you," Edgar said. "Please, come in, make yourself comfortable. It's my pleasure to welcome you. But brings you out this way?"

Wan would follow where Edgar led as he cast his glance back the way he had come and the roses that lay upon the paths he'd walked. He was very curious now about what they would have done had they not thought well of him. Something he'd like to find out more about during his stay.

"I'm traveling the lands and learning what I can about them and the people that live in the Drabwurld," he answered easily, honestly. "I'm planning on staying here for a while, though. I don't know how long yet. I'm staying until Harry Potter is done making something for me and brings it to me. I need a place for him to find me easily. Since this Spire is on the edge of the Troll Lands, I figured I could venture into them every few days without missing Harry's arrival."

"You're certainly welcome to stay here as you like," Edgar said, leading him inside, "But what business do you have with the trolls?"

[raavashing]

"None," he replied with a shrug. "Like I said, I'm traveling the lands and learning what I can about the people that live here. The trolls are people that live here. I want to learn their ways just as I want to learn the ways of the other peoples of this world."

A measure of tension visibly relaxed in the young baron, and he nodded.
"It's good to hear you say that. So few people are willing to see the trolls as people. They take one look and think they're monsters, but they aren't. They have a culture all their own, but... so few take the time to see it."

Wan tilted his head to the side, a little surprised to hear that. With so many different kinds of people that weren't human in the Drabwurld it seemed strange that some groups would still get treated that way.

"Well, some people can be monstrous," he tried joking, doing his best to make it obvious before continuing. "But you sound like you know a lot about them. Will you teach me what you know of their ways? I still want to meet them and learn from them on my own, but learning what's polite and what isn't before I go in there couldn't hurt."

Edgar smiled faintly at the joke. A little close to home, that one. Not that Wan could have known that.

"I have a particular... empathy with trolls," Edgar said with a shrug, "They aren't quite the same here as where I came from, but I spent a lot of time among them back in Eldritch," Edgar explained, "They have some... traditions others find a little off-putting, but they aren't bad people. Just misunderstood."

He blushed a little.
"Oh, but you'll probably want some rest and refreshments before we start getting into the particulars of trolldom. Is there anything I can offer you?"

[raavashing]

"No, I'm fine," he answered, smiling brightly. "I know what it's like to live among a group of people that are misunderstood. I'm sure I can deal with the strange traditions."

Though he didn't know for sure what he was getting into, from what he'd heard about trolls, he assumed there was probably a lot of violence in their culture.

"They can be... rough. They aren't terribly fond of the smell of flowers though. One of the reasons why the roses are in place. They don't harm the trolls at all, but they do deter them from getting overly close."

He cocked his head just a little.
"...have you ever encountered a troll before?"

[raavashing]

"Don't like flowers, got it," he said, nodding along before shaking his head. "No. But I want to."

"They aren't very trusting of outsiders, admittedly for good reason. I got lucky. They have limited trust in me. We have our agreements. But my word is far from law to them."

He fidgeted.
"Still, it might work better if you're given a proper introduction. As a friend."

[raavashing]

"Sounds like some friends I have back home." The spirits didn't exactly accept him right away, but their trust grew and strengthened over time. And that came from living among them and learning from them. He expected it would be much the same for the trolls. If he had to work harder to prove himself, so be it.

"But I'd like that, thank you. Could we do that tomorrow? Or the next day? If there's anything I should do before we go out, I will."

"I suggest you bring a bit of brimstone with you, just in case. Not much, but... Thrown onto a fire, the fumes will put a troll to sleep for a little while. At least, it works for the ones in Eldritch. I'm not certain if it still works here. I haven't had reason to use it. But... just in case things don't go according to plan, it's good to have an out that won't end... messily," Edgar said.

"But, yes, if you like, we could. They prefer the dark. Do you mind night travel? We can use my clegs, if that would be easier."

Wan shook his head, "I don't mind at all. And I can fly on my own. I'd rather not have one of them decide they want to drop me mid-flight because it's funny to them. And if something goes to the point it can get messy, I can get us out of there fast. I don't want to put them to sleep and have them even madder at me later if I upset them. I'd rather try to work things out."
